Quick Note

Dearest Liam,

We had the best weekend, our little family spent lots of time together just hanging out....these are some of my favorite times.  That is one of the best things you have taught me; to just slow down and live in this moment and just play cars. And I love it, love it!

I wanted to take a quick moment and just say something, you know in case there is a day when I can't; just so you know I love you fiercely.  Our family time is sacred to me and you are first and foremost my number 1 priority in this life.  I have loved every moment of being your mom, even the really hard and frustrating moments (you'll know what I mean when you have a toddler one day, said with a smile).  I mean it from the depths of my heart and soul each time I tell you I love you.  I pray that I get to see you be a teenager and you can be annoyed when I hug/kiss you and tell you I love you.

I know I won't always be your friend but I will always be your mom.  I hope I am able to teach you important things, to love God and others, to be kind, to read and run.  It's a big job to be a good mom and raise a good man but I'm trying.

Thank you for the greatest gift,
Momma

While I'm here a quick note on your favorite things: matchbox cars, trains in any shape or form but especially Thomas the Train on tv.  You love fish sticks, peas and any kind of pasta or fruit.  (There really isn't much food you don't like aside from Olives and eggs which you used to love). When you get really happy or excited you say "mom-mom-mom-mom" over and over as fast as you can and it melts my heart.  You love books as much as ever, you could easily spend a whole day bringing me books to read you.  You could also spend each and every day outside all day, summer will be here soon my love and I promise you lots of outside time!

Our Date Day 2-11-13

Sweet Liam,

Have I mentioned that you voluntarily give my kisses on the cheek and hugs now?  It's my favorite thing in the world, I'll be doing some chore and suddenly there you are hugging my legs!  It stops in my my tracks, I intentionally lean down to hug you back.  I love your kisses just as much, your little face smooshed up against mine.  Heart, melts.

Work has been super busy, for the first time in your life I've had to bring home work which I only worked on after you were fast asleep.  The last month has been very busy but I'm hoping it will pay off soon.  My heart longed for more time with you, the weekends are just too short!  So I scheduled a paid day off with just you and me!  You slept in so I got up and made us a yummy breakfast and Dadda got you up before be left for work.  We lounged and played for a few hours before getting dressed and heading off to play on the big train at the mall.  It's always so packed with "big kids" (5-9 years) on the weekends that you have no interest in it, but on this quite Monday it was all 2 year olds and you were so happy!  You quickly got comfortable and soon were climbing all over it, giggling and sliding down the slide.  You were none to pleased when the lady came to clean it, you wanted no part of the few minute break!  You played and played to near exhaustion and we headed home for snacks and a nap.  After your nap we played and ate lunch.  (G'ma did come over to watch you while I went and got some bloodwork done but the good results were worth the break in our day).

Later that night when Dadda got home we all ate dinner, Dadda cut your hair and you had a bath.  At bedtime you passed out!  You had so much fun and we played so much you were ready for sleep!  I so enjoyed this extra day with just you and me and I promise many more of them in the future!!

I love you to the moon and back!

Things to Remember; 19.5 months

Funny, Sweet and Spunky Liam,
How is it possible that you are so close to two years old?! You are growing so quickly!  You are so much more like a little boy lately!  You love to help in any way possible, especially handing Dadda the clean spoons from the dishwasher!  And recently you learned to tell "I not noooooo" when we ask for someone or something that is out of sight.  You love to play puzzels and have gotten really good at getting the pieces in the correct spots, and clapping for yourself! You also really love to go in your room in the evening when it's a little dark and have us turn on the projection part of your noise machine, there is a disc in it that shows stars, a moon and a cow and sheep.  Dadda and I sing "twinkle, twinkle little star" and lay on the floor watching the images with you.  Although you can't say the worlds you clearly now them and can make a humming noise along with us!  You also still love books and your favorite is "Goodnight Moon" which we read you at least five times everyday!

My absolute favorite thing you've started doing more often is hugging us.  Dadda or I will be doing something and you will come up and push on our legs until we face you and you press your little body into ours to hug us.  It's the nicest thing and makes my day every time you do it (which is daily).
The terrible twos have started making appearances in our home which isn't the funniest thing.  You also have three more teeth cutting skin so that makes you slightly grumpy too.  I'm not sure how you can fit more teeth in your tiny little mouth but when you laugh you open your mouth so wide I can get a good look and sure enough, three more little teeth coming in!  For the most part you are a very good little boy, you listen really well considering you are so young. You are generally happy and so very fun.

I'm so thankful that I get to be your Momma, I would not trade it for anything in this world.

Most Fun Award

Sweet Liam,

You are turning into the most fun little boy ever!  Yesterday we made it to church and you did really well in the nursery with all your buddies!  After an afternoon nap we ate and then you and I headed back to church to volunteer with the kiddos (something we started doing together last fall).  Sometimes this is a challenge for you, sharing me isn't your strong point, especially sharing your Momma.  :)  Last night though we had a blast!  There we maybe six other kids your age, we all played, laughed and enjoyed a snack while I taught lesson.  It was by far the most fun we've had volunteering.  I really consider you my little buddy, I enjoy taking you on errands and spending as much time together as we can.

I'm so excited for all 2013 holds for us sweet boy, I love you to the moon and back!

Sledding &Christmas Lights

Hi Sweet Liam,

Well we finally got some snow and by some I mean like 5 inches!  I can't believe it took so long!  This weekend we bundled you up and Dadda and I each took you sledding!

You were so cute in your snow pants and carhart coat....you could hardly walk but you were warm!  On Sunday afternoon I decided to take you out-and-about in the sled.  You weren't so excited about all the layers until I buckled you into your baby size sled and off we went!  We are currently renting until we are in our forever home this Spring but the good thing about the rental is that there is a school just one block from the house so we headed there.  You enjoyed going all around in the snow drifts, once at the school I pulled you up and down a very tiny hill.  Unforunately you started to get cold fast and then apparently I wasn't pulling you home fast enough.  I unbuckled you assuming you'd like to be carried home, nope.  You wanted to walk and didn't want to hold my hand!  You even fell, hard, a couple times but it didn't even phase you!  You just enjoyed the freedom of walking!  (I don't make you walk outside often right now because of the snow).  We walked, very slowly, about half the way home.  It was adorable and a memory I'll always cherish!

Dadda  and I also put up some Christmas decor this weekend, I guess the snow made it more real that Christmas is quickly approaching.  Because we are preparing to move and our rental is so small we opted for no tree this year.  Instead we put up lights in the shape of trees on our windows.  You seem to love it more than any of the real tress you've seen so far!  You also love this little teddy bear your great aunt Toots got you, it reads the Christmas story and you think that is just wonderful, the smile you get as the bear reads is just so sweet and innocent.  I pray you have this kind of joy all your life in one way or another!

I love you my peanut child!

Silly Hobbies

Sweet Silly Liam,

I want to share with you one of your current favorite hobbies...playing with your Dad's shoes.  You love to get into our room, find two of his shoes (mostly often you find matching gym shoes), you shove your arms all the way in them and walk around with them on your arms.  This is possibly the cutest thing ever!  You are always so proud of yourself, and find this just as humorous as we do!  I love how the simpliest things give you the most joy...not nearly as much as I love you though!

Little Boy

My Sweet and Funny Liam,

I want to remember this: Last night as I drove out to Nanna Annette's I was imagining you as you grow up.  (Not that I haven't done this before but now that we are on the path to owning our own home the future is easier to imagine.)  Anyway it was such a pretty fall day (no snow yet which is odd) I was daydreaming a little as I drove and for some reason I started thinking about if you will want a pet of your own someday like a lizard.  I wondered how your dad and I would handle it and if we'd let you have one (we probably will if you ask).  Then I imagined you standing in your room, about eight or so years old and I could hear you asking me and I could see you telling me where it could live in your room and how you'd take care of it.  It was the nicest little day dream and it suddenly occurred to me that you won't be this tiny little boy forever.  I know that seems silly but I just so enjoy the strange you are currently at that it sort of didn't dawn on me that you will be eight some day and may want a lizard.  I just laughed.

Then we got home, I let you play in the livingroom while I prepared dinner, you were extra chatty and just looking at books.  I went to peak in on you and you had picked up a toy car and were wondering around chatting with yourself and I just smiled, you are such a little boy!  You love trucks and making noise and I can so see the boy you will become.  You are going to fill our lives with so much joy, so much more than you already do.

Maybe I'm extra sappy lately, you'll probably think I'm silly for even wanting to remember these simple things but I just love you....I love being your mom.  You are absolutely the best thing that has ever happened to me and I cherish every moment with you.

I love you Liam, so very much!
